The album "Metamorfose" features five works that form the core of Norwegian cello music: Grieg's "Cello", first performed in Dresden in 1883 and widely acclaimed for its "liveliness, strikingly beautiful melodies, joyful dance rhythms and dramatic climaxes". Sonata in A minor". Spalle Ohlsen's (1903-1984) "Transfiguration" and Sommerfeldt's (1919-1994) "Small Suite" and Monrad Johansen's (1888-1974) "Suite of Ballades" are reminiscent of Grieg's style, while Arne Nurheim's (1931-2010) "Call Arne Nurheim (1931-2010)'s "Calling" is music with a strong expressiveness. It is "the cry of mankind seeking solace in a twilight age" (Nurheim). The title of the piece is taken from Psalm 130 of the Old Testament, "From the depths of the abyss I call to you, O Lord. Frida Friederike Woehlvogen (1988-) studied with Auger Kvarbein, Tors Morck, Frans Hermeshon, and Torleif Thedéen, and is primarily a chamber musician and orchestral player. The instrument is a cello made by Nicolas Rupot in 1823.Pianist Ingri Anthnes (1978-) is best known for his solo work and collaborations with contemporary Norwegian composers and ensembles.
