This newly remastered boxed set includes five live recordings of Stokowski's own writings, including a live performance in Rotterdam. The sound has been carefully remastered by Paul Bailey of Re:Sound, aiming for his ideal sound as written by Stokowski himself, and the unique agogic and instrumentation can be enjoyed in a clear and dynamic way. Starting with the first performance of Mahler's "Resurrection" at the BBC Proms, which sent the audience into a frenzy of excitement, to the chaotic Stokowski-like performances of Shostakovich and Berlioz, to the highly successful Beethoven's 7th and Brahms' 4th, all of which are known for their masterful performances. The recording is also very impressive, including the last concert in London, his birthplace, and a highly accomplished live performance in Holland of Franck, his specialty.CD3 includes an interview (in English) with musicologist Derrick Cook, who is also known for his completion of the supplement to Mahler's Symphony No. 10.
