Welser-Möst & Cleveland Orchestra's Brahms Cycle Now Available on Video! Recorded in Cleveland, Vienna, and London! The Brahms Cycle with the Cleveland Orchestra, of which Welzer-Möst has been the Music Director since 2002, is now available on video. Recorded in Cleveland, Vienna, and London. The Brahms Cycle opens at Cleveland's Severance Hall, their home base, in January 2014. The concert featured Symphony No. 4 and the Violin Concerto with Julia Fischer as soloist. Symphony No. 4 is a work from Brahms' mature period, and is rich in the stylistic beauty that Brahms had achieved, using old styles such as church melodies and passacaglia themes. Welser-Möst restrained excessive expression, polished the details smoothly, and built up the music with natural breathing and care.The performance is spontaneous and spontaneous, with the 13-year veteran of the orchestra in perfect breath. And then the Violin Concerto. Julia Fischer played each note with great care, making the contours of the music clear and the performance convincing. The orchestra, too, enjoys Brahms' orchestral twists and turns, which supports Fischer's performance well. In February, Yefim Bronfman was invited to perform Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 2.
