Kvaratak is a proud and fierce band from the Kingdom of Norway, whose name means "choke hold" in Norwegian, and who have been aggressively attacking their listeners with their impressive roar and exquisite song development. They have been making the world hear the roar of the highest quality, incorporating rock, punk, metal, death, black, and all kinds of loud and heavy sounds into their own flesh and blood. The band has completed their fourth album, "SPLID". Over the past four years, the band has undergone a major change: in 2018, Erland Hjelvik, the frontman with that singular owl-clad presence, left the band, forcing the first lineup change since the band's formation in 2009. The band welcomed Ivar Nikolaisen, who had previously performed with the band as a guest vocalist, to replace him, and in 2019, the band signed a new contract with Rise Records, and completed the project with a new lineup and a new label, sharpening their own sound. The new album "SPLID" is the result of their efforts to sharpen their sound under a new lineup and a new label. The title of this latest album is SPLID, a Norwegian word meaning "Dischord" in English.This album was recorded at Godcity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts, USA, with Kurt Barrow of Converge as producer again, with whom he worked on the debut album "KVELERTAK" (2010) and the second album "MEIR" (2013). The album was recorded at Godcity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts, USA. While maintaining the elements of the previous album, which featured a loud, heavy sound and classic rock-inspired grooves and guitar riffs, the band commented on Kurt's return to the band for this album, which presents a more robust sound with the rough style of their early days. It was great to work with Kurt again, and the final sound is absolutely fantastic. We pushed ourselves to the limit last year. Musically, physically, and mentally. The result is about an hour of catchy riffs, punk-inspired rock, and heavy metal sound. The new song "Bratebrann," which was released along with the album's information, is a new and overwhelming sound that will take the world by storm, with classic metal riffs scattered throughout the song and a furious rush that will leave listeners in a state of shock. The song is littered with classic metal riffs, yet it is a song that makes the listener feel a sense of unparalleled elation as it rushes through the world with a furious force.Their new song "Crack of Doom," which was recently released to the public, is a very ambitious sound that presents a new style for the band. This is the first time they are performing a song with English lyrics, having previously stuck to the Norwegian language. It is also worth mentioning that Troy Sanders of Mastodon sings guest vocals on this song. This song, which sounds English but does not lose any of the Kvaratak sound, but rather accentuates their own sound, may be the wing that will allow them to spread their wings even further.
