Sextet Fantasia was led by Venezuelan pianist Virgilio Armas, who has performed with Elis Regina, Stan Getz, Sergio Mendes, Tito Puente, Paulinho da Costa, Nancy Wilson, and Leslie Root. While based on the mainstream/popular styles of the time, such as waracha, pachanga, mambo, and boogaloo, this album skillfully incorporates nuances of jazz and bossa nova, and shows how they pushed the limits of salsa!
