Description:

The souls of Rameau and Debussy reverberate through contemporary sensibilities! This reworked album, a sequel/addition to the previous "Debussy-Rameau" album, features the phenomenal talent who won the 2019 British Gramophone Award for "Artist of the Year" and the 2020 German "Opus Classics Award" in the category of Instrumental Recording (Piano) and a string of international music awards. This is a sequel/addition to his previous work "Debussy-Rameau," which combined the works of Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764) and Claude Debussy (1862-1918), two revolutionary composers and geniuses separated by nearly 200 years, and through their dialogue revealed the true value of their works, their modernity, and their similarities. This reworked album is a sequel/addition to "Debussy-Rameau" and includes new arrangements by Viktor Olafsson himself and various other artists. These meditative reworkings, based on phrases from Debussy's or Rameau's works, also highlight the true value of the original works and present them in a more multifaceted way.The reworking features genre-defying, cutting-edge artists such as Polish post-classical composer-pianist Hanya Lani, Icelandic multi-talented Helgi Jonsson, who also supports Sigur Ros, Icelandic male duo Huger (Pietr Jonsson and Bergur Sorlisson), British producer/DJ/composer Clark, and Balmoray, who has a strong following in the post-classical scene. The reworking includes cutting-edge, genre-defying artists such as composer Clark and Balmoray, who has a huge following in the post-classical scene. Debussy's original "Heathery Wasteland" and "Canopus" are performed on a regular grand piano, as well as an intimate recording [home session] on an upright piano, providing a very contrasting sonic experience.
