After wrapping up their 30th-anniversary tour—which was a resounding success with every show sold out, including a live performance that recreated every song from their historic debut album—the band gathered in Orange County, halfway between the members’ respective homes in California, and returned to their roots. They entered a rehearsal studio, played music together, wrote songs together, and worked out from scratch what to do next and what form their next project should take. This album, *WEEZER (THE GOLD ALBUM)*, was born from those sessions. It is simply the work of four men who gathered in a single room and created it together. And the finished album is bursting with energy, as if it might explode at any moment. Three of the four members composed the tracks on the album, and it’s been since their debut album—believe it or not—that frontman Rivers Cuomo (Vocals/Guitar) and Pat Wilson (Drums) have worked together to lay the foundation for a song.
