This is a valuable collection of works for the trautonium, an electronic instrument famous for its use in Hitchcock's film "The Birds" (1963) and in Hindemith's works. On this album, you will hear works by German composer Harald Genzmer (1909-2007) for trautonium virtuoso Oskar Zara (1910-2002, who also played in "The Birds"). The two sonatas for trautonium and piano are world premiere recordings in their original instrumentation. They are performed by Peter Pichler (1967-), a German musician who also had a relationship with Zara, using a mixed trautonium that he restored himself. Tokyo M-Plus
