Glass, Philip (1937-)
Description:
Composer Philip Glass will turn 80 in January 2017. To commemorate this, this album features saxophone performances of his works. Both the sonata and the concerto are a series of dispersed chords. She loves this work so much that she decided to perform it on saxophone. She succeeds in playing it through her marvelous technique. The sad melody in the second movement is played in pianissimo, and the continuity of the silence shows the subtle emotional fluctuation of the heart. This performance has already received rave reviews for its transcendence of the original for violin, its assimilation into a work for saxophone, and its culmination. The concertos (6-8) are the same as those on her second album, "Amy Dixon Plays Contemporary Concertos" (8869737679-2). Amy Dixon, a native of Sydney, began playing the saxophone at the age of six and made her concert debut at the age of 16.Known for his amazingly rich tone and extraordinary musicianship, he has performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Wee Chamber Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra on the world's most famous stages, including the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Sydney Opera House. He has released six CDs on the Sony Classical label, which have been nominated for Grammy Awards and have been ranked high on the hit charts. His third album, "Dusk & Dawn," won him the MasterCard Award for Best Breakthrough Artist at the 2013 Brit Awards, the UK's biggest music awards, making him the first saxophonist, and the first Australian, to win the award. He has also received various other awards, including the Royal Award. No other saxophonist has such a title, with British Classical FM calling her "a talent not to be missed" and German Gramophone magazine calling her "a player of rare distinction. She is deeply involved in the development of new repertoire for saxophone, and is constantly commissioning new works and arranging existing works for other instruments. He is a performing artist for Selmer and Bundren (reed manufacturer). Outside of music, he is a Goodwill Ambassador for the Australian Children's Music Foundation, the Prince's Trust, the Royal Children's Arts Foundation, and an ambassador for the British beauty product brand REN Skincare.
