Description:

A world of colors and sounds created by a large orchestra. From February 28 to March 7, 2017, Paavo and the NHK Symphony Orchestra will tour Europe for the first time. tour of Europe from February 28 to March 7, 2017. Beginning with the Berlin Philharmonic, the release coincides with this important tour that takes them to Paris, Amsterdam, London, and other major cities, programming primarily Mahler's Symphony No. 6 and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10, two of the most difficult symphonies in the repertoire. The NHK Symphony Orchestra has a German tradition of performance and profound sonority that has been imprinted on the orchestra through Wolfgang Sawallisch, Otmar Switner, Horst Stein, and other German-Austrian masters of the 20th century, and the current NHK Symphony Orchestra has acquired "a sense of beauty and color that rivals that of major American orchestras. The NHK Symphony Orchestra today has acquired a "functional beauty and a sense of color that rivals that of major American orchestras. The repertoire chosen to make full use of all these qualities is Richard Strauss's Cycle of Symphonic Poems, one of the most famous orchestral works of the 20th century. The symphonic poem by R. Strauss, a brilliant composer who was so familiar with the characteristics of orchestral instruments that he declared, "I can describe everything in music," was composed to make the most of the features of the modern orchestra, which developed greatly in terms of tone, volume, performance style, and many other aspects at the end of the 19th century. The main feature of his symphonic poems is that they were composed to grasp the characteristics of the modern orchestra, which developed greatly in terms of tone, volume, and performance style at the end of the 19th century. The fascination of R. Strauss's symphonic poems lies in the use of a huge orchestra, which is basically composed of four winds and sometimes includes an organ and harp, to create an extremely colorful sound world. Although Paavo Järvi has recorded a wide range of repertoire with various orchestras, he had never recorded any of Strauss's symphonic poems until this project with the NHK Symphony Orchestra (among Strauss's works, he had only recorded "The Townsman Aristocrat" and "Double Concerto" with the Deutsche Kammerphil). The performances reflect the spirit of Pavo's decision to finally record R. Strauss's symphonic poems with his ideal partner, the NHK Symphony Orchestra. (1/2) Sony Music
