The last authentic studio sessions of Elvis Presley's career are finally packaged in a comprehensive form as "Elvis at Stax Deluxe Edition"! This 3-CD luxury box follows chronologically the 12 days in July and December 1973 that Elvis recorded at the prestigious Stax studio label in his hometown of Memphis. The Stax label was one of the most successful labels to emerge from the mixed sound of R&B and C&W sown in Memphis by Elvis and Sun Records in the 1950s, and it was at this studio that Elvis recorded his first solo album, "The Last of the Roots" (1973), which was recorded by Otis Redding, Sam & Sam, and the rest of the band. The Stax label was one of the most successful of these labels, and the soul sound of Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Isaac Hayes, and others was born at the studio.The recording session at that studio was significant for Elvis, as it was a return to his roots.
