Kegel's unknown "masterpiece collection" recorded in 1969 is reissued in its original form in the original recording order! Some of the pieces have never been released in Japan before. World's first SACD release! Mastered only in the analog domain and converted directly to DSD! The latest reissue of ETERNA's original analog tapes in Japan, the 27th SACD hybrid reissue of a collection of unknown masterpieces conducted by Kegel, in their original form when first released on SACD hybrid discs. Until now, some of the pieces have been included on the domestic CDs in pieces in Kegel's "Masterpieces Album 2" and in edited versions with other conductors. The original selection of songs was quite unique, and it is thought that the songs were scattered afterwards because it was deemed difficult to sell the LPs in Japan with the same selection of songs. This time, we have reissued it as a single album with the original song order and tracks. The seventh track, "Johann Strauss II: Annen Polka," is the first time it has been released on CD (first time on DISC). The selection of the pieces is typical of the former East German label of the time, and four of them are large scale pieces that include chorus, all of which are performed with full commitment, which is typical of Kegel.The intention of the selection was curious, and the title is "Melody of your choice" (or sometimes translated as "melody of your choice"), but the lineup is quite interesting, as it is not just a collection of beautiful masterpieces, but also includes some flashy pieces and a sudden "Annen Polka". It is also unique in that it includes Addinsell's "Warsaw Concerto," which is rarely recorded by classical conductors. The second piece, "Ave Verum Corpus," is known as a masterpiece, and it is no exaggeration to say that this piece alone reveals Kegel's true value. Kegel's vocal and religious works by Mozart have an established reputation, and even in his later years he was recording with the PHILIPS label (seven "Masses" were reissued on CD with Universal in 2020 as a Tower project release (PROC2311)). It is typical of Kegel's choral prowess to include choral works in a masterpiece collection. The enthusiasm of Kegel and the East German production team for each piece is so great that the performance is certainly beyond the category of easy listening to a masterpiece, and it is safe to say that there is no other masterpiece collection like this one. There is no other collection of such masterpieces in the world.The album is a joy not only for the fans of the band, but also for Kegel's skillful attention to detail, as well as the release of energy.
