Flores, a world-renowned virtuoso who emerged from Venezuela’s “El Sistema” music education program, has garnered high acclaim in numerous competitions, including first prize at the 2005 Philip Jones International Trumpet Competition, first prize and a special award at the 2006 Maurice André International Trumpet Competition, and first prize at the 2006 Porcia International Trumpet Competition in Italy. In this work, he demonstrates his talent not only as a soloist but also as a composer, presenting a new dimension of the trumpet’s appeal through dynamic melodies and brilliant orchestration. He is joined by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Domingo Indoyan, who is also from Venezuela and serves as the orchestra’s principal conductor. The two have been close friends since their days with the Simón Bolívar Orchestra, and their strong bond of trust gives rise to a passionate performance brimming with unity. Flores’s own concerto, *Álvarez*, is a magnificent work filled with dynamic rhythms and vivid musical energy, fully bringing out the trumpet’s charm.
