The legendary Irish rock band U2, led by the well-known BONO, led the rock scene in the 80's with a sense of tension and scale after the post-punk era. This album encapsulates the momentum of the band's rise from Dublin to the global arena. The WAR TOUR, which spanned Europe and North America, was a pivotal tour that marked the band's explosive power as a socially conscious song and live band. Recorded live for radio broadcast at a venue in California in May 1983, the midpoint of the tour during the period of their third album "WAR", the young band from Ireland played to a West Coast audience, reflecting the news of the time, such as the world situation during the Cold War and the Solidarity movement in Poland. The band was still in the midst of its "WAR" tour. This is a record that offers the incisive ensemble of a tight four-piece, before it had yet to become stadium rock. The song "GLORIA" opens with sharp guitar riffs and extended vocals, followed by "I THREW A BRICK THROUGH THE WINDOW" and "A DAY WITHOUT ME," which have a strong early post-punk flavor, "AN CAT DUBH / INTO THE HEART," a dark "NEW YEAR'S DAY," and the classic "NEW YEAR'S DAY. The second half of the album features "TWO", "A DAY WITHOUT ME", "AN CAT DUBH / INTO THE HEART" and the classic "NEW YEAR'S DAY".
