The latest recording of Marek Janowski's energetic performances and recordings with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra is a live recording of "The Creation" featuring Christiane Kark, Benjamin Bruns, and Tarek Nazmi, all soloists. The prestigious Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1870. Janowski served as the orchestra's chief conductor from 2001 to 2003, and will return to the position from 2019 until 2023, performing music of great maturity. During his stay in London in his later years, Haydn was surprised by the enthusiasm of the audience at a performance of Handel's oratorio, which inspired him to compose "The Creation". Taking "Genesis" and "Psalms" from the Old Testament and Milton's "Paradise Lost" as its subject matter, the work is written in three parts, chronologically following the seven days of creation from the first to the fourth day of creation by God, the fifth and sixth days when the creatures appear, and the appearance of Adam and Eve. It not only apotheosized the 18th century oratorio, but also greatly influenced the Romantic composers of the 19th century. Janowski brings out both the classical and romantic resonance of this work in a colorful performance. The sublime and sublime sound of the master Janowski shines through in this performance, which you will enjoy in the high quality recording on the PENTATONE label.
