Second Hungarian work by Lanciska Peach & Maki Hayashida Following the release of Bartók's Violin Sonatas (ODRCD 419, specially selected by Record Geijutsu), Francesca Peach and Maki Hayashida present their second CD of Hungarian works by D Honani, Kodály, and Liszt, this time with the addition of cellist Hilla Karni. D'Honani's Violin Sonata is a hidden masterpiece that has been slowly gaining popularity since the beginning of the 21st century. It is a German romanticism with a touch of Hungarian elements, and above all, it is full of passion. Peach plays it here with great melancholy, using a thick tone and rich vibrato. If you don't know this piece yet, I highly recommend it. Kodály's duet is already a popular work, and is colored with Kodály's typical strong Hungarian colors. Peach and Carni color the contrast of high and low to the fullest. Tristia is an arrangement of Liszt's "Obermann's Valley" for piano trio with the help of Danish-born composer Eduard Lassen. Here, Peach, Carni, and Hayashida give us a taste of their moist music.
