Following the much talked about performance of "Imeneo" (GCD 923405) in the Dublin version of 1742, Biondi & Europa Galante continue the Handel project with their fourth London opera, "Silla (or Lucio Cornelio Silla)", composed in 1713! Composed in London in 1713, "Silla," like "Rinaldo," is an opera in three acts to a libretto by Giacomo Rossi. It is said to have been premiered at a private concert at the Queen's Theatre in the Haymarket in 1713, but there are various theories about its composition and other aspects of the work that remain a mystery.The world's leading singers on the Glossa label, including Sonia Prina, Roberta Invernizzi, Vivica Junod, Martina Belli, who performed in Vivaldi's "The Oracle of Messenia" at the Kanagawa Music Hall, and Sunhe Im, who is highly regarded by the masters of the ancient music world such as Jacobs and Herreweghe, will be performing together in a performance that is sure to attract great attention!
