Description:

Olga Perechatzko's addictive role in the 2016 Pesaro Rossini Festival! The festival is held every August and boasts a level of quality and attention comparable to the best music festivals in Europe. The works are performed according to the Critical Edition compiled by the Rossini Foundation. The productions contribute to the rediscovery of unknown works from the 39 Rossini operas and to the establishment of the repertoire. The Turks in Italy" was performed at La Scala in Milan on August 14, 1814. It was not well received by the audience because of its similarity in setting to "The Italian Daughter of Algiers," which had been premiered the previous year to great success. However, compared to the poor reception it received at the time of its premiere, today it is a comedy of customs, lofty speculations on love, art, and identity that resonates with our modern audience and enjoys a strong following. The story follows Selim, a Turkish prince; Zaida, his former lover, a gypsy woman; Donna Fiorilla, who is attracted to Selim despite her husband; Don Geronio, Fiorilla's timid husband; her friend Prosdochimo, a poet; and Don Narciso, who adores Fiorilla. In the end, Selim and Zaida get along well and board a ship to Turkey together, Geronio forgives Fiorilla, Fiorilla returns to her husband and is grateful, and Narciso goes his own way, leaving the poet satisfied and ending on a happy note. The production is directed by Davide Revermole and is inspired by the film "8 1/2" by Italian cinema master Federico Fellini. The capricious wife Fiorilla is sung by Olga Perechatzko, who specializes in Rossini. She is a wonderful actress and sings a fascinating role. The flirtatious Selim is sung by Irwin Schrott, a native of Uruguay with a deep, exotic voice and a fearless figure. The timid husband Geronio is played by Nicola Alaimo, whose flexibility and versatility of expression are appealing.The poet is Pietro Spanulli, a talented Italian baritone and a unique group of singers.
