Re-issue! A collection of transcriptions of the great Bach by Neymar Diaz, a master of the double-stringed five-course guitar "viola brasileira". Produced by Andre Memari. Neymar Diaz is a leading expert on the viola brazileira, also known as the viola caipira, and has made numerous recordings as a guitarist and bass player in the Brazilian instrumental music world. In addition to his own leader works, his visit to Japan in 2016 as the bass player of the Andre Memari Trio is still fresh in our minds. In this album, he performs solo transcriptions of Bach's works for viola brasileira. He says that he arranged the pieces as naturally and faithfully as possible while respecting the instrumental limitations. Bach's music has been arranged by various instrumentalists in the past, but it is strange that his works for lute, cello, harpsichord, cantata, etc. sound like the compositions of Villa-Lobos and other composers from his native land. If we trace the roots of Brazilian music, one of its origins can be traced back to Bach as well. Produced by Memari and Andre Memari, the album was released on Memari's Estúdio Monteverdi label. The recording was done in one-point stereo (two microphones in one place), with practically no mixing work done on the studio tabletop, and the recording is beautiful with minimal studio gimmicks.
