The Hours of Spain" is a slapstick story about a watchmaker, Torquemada, his wife, Concepcion, her lover, and the customers of a watchmaker's shop, but Ravel's music is beautiful and not a mere comedy. The music is beautifully orchestrated with sounds reminiscent of the mechanical sounds of a clock, and Maderna's conducting skillfully brings out all the elements. King International
