The brilliant Italian pianist Chiara Bertoglio, trained by Paul Badura-Skoda, made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2005 under the baton of Leon Fleischer. Bertoglio, a pianist who delivers musical and intellectual performances, as well as a distinguished musicologist who has received awards from the Pontifical Academy of Music, has completed the fifth volume of a recording project that portrays the connection and relationship between J.S. Bach and the Italian musical world. Bach's works have been attempted to be arranged by many people for various reasons from their birth to the present.The album focuses on unaccompanied works for violin and cello arranged for piano by Italian musicians, ranging from the addition of accompaniment to solve the problem at a time when this genre of work was not yet widely accepted in the concert repertoire, to the insightful addition of Chopin-style melodies to the "Suite for Cello Unaccompanied" to highlight the influence of Bach on Chopin. The exhibition will provide an overview of how these works have been interpreted and received in Italy from the 19th century to the present day, from the addition of Chopin-esque melodies to the "Suite for Cello Unaccompanied" to the insightful way in which Bach's influence on Chopin is highlighted.
