This is the second album by French pianist François Couturier in tribute to the great Russian film director Andrei Tarkovsky, who recorded "Nostalghia-Song For Tarcovsky" in 2006 with the exact same members as this album. The band's inspiration for Tarkovsky's films continues to grow, and even casual references to Pergolesi, Bach, Shostakovich, and others can be heard as improvisations by the band in this unique ECM sequel.
