Cyprian Katsaris' very hot new album! Music of Chopin's disciples! Cyprian Katsaris, the wizard of the keyboard, revives the music of Chopin's disciples and friends buried in history! Two discs of brilliant 19th century salon music by Gutmann, Filchu, Mikli, Fontana, Rothschild, and Tellefsen! The new remarkable program by keyboard wizard Cyprien Katsaris is entitled "Chopin's Epoque," a collection of piano works by Chopin's students and friends! Katsaris is a world-renowned Chopin player, and NIFC (Polish National Chopin Institute) had released a rare repertoire of piano works by Stanislaw Monieuszko (PNIFCCD113), who was a contemporary of Chopin, but this time he will perform works by Chopin's disciples and friends. This 2-CD set features piano works by six musicians of the same generation as Chopin (about 10 to 20 years younger than Chopin in age).They were Chopin's students, friends, assistants, and composers/pianists who continued his legacy by writing, revising, publishing, and teaching Chopin's works. By the end of the 19th century, most of them had disappeared from the concert and publishing markets. The works presented here consist of nocturnes, mazurkas, waltzes, barcaroles, polonaises, gallops, Romanian folk songs, and small pieces with poetic titles such as "Farewell to Venice" by Filchu, "Whirlwind" by Gutmann, and "Memories" (Op.2-3) by Rothschild. The music is lyrical, nostalgic, and has a unique charm. While none of the pieces require excessive pianistic skill, some of the pieces have a virtuoso character, sometimes with noble and heroic elements, others with a parodic, circus-like character, and a good balance of dances (mazurkas, waltzes) and atmospheric pieces (nocturnes). The music is balanced between dances (mazurkas, waltzes) and atmospheric pieces (nocturnes).Only Cyprian Katsaris, who has had Chopin's music completely under his control, can bring out the charm of these simple, delicate, and unknown works. Katsaris performed a program from this album at the "Chopin and His European International Music Festival 2022," which attracted much attention in Japan with the participation of young stars of the Chopin Competition such as Kyohei Sanda, Aimi Kobayashi, Gajev, and Garcia Garcia, and was applauded.
