The band, formed by Rachel Goswell of Slowdive, Justin Lockie of Editors, Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai, and Justin's brother and filmmaker James Lockie (Hand Held Cine Club), called Minor Victories, will release their self-titled album on June 3. Since their existence was revealed last summer, they have been hinting at the album's production through teaser videos and interview statements, and have finally completed their long-awaited debut album. While it is true that Justin Lockyer of Editors was ultimately at the helm, the formation of this group was made possible by the light acquaintanceships, mutual relationships, and unforeseen coincidences that originally existed. The production and recording of the album took place almost entirely without all four members coming together, armed with freedom, speed, and a number of great ideas. It is a testament to how a group made up of individual talents can work outside the box.Their musical tastes, drawn from a variety of US and UK locations, have broken away from the visions each member has had in their own activities and stepped into a new sound. Yes, this is the worldview that Minor Victories is releasing. The album includes a duet by Rachel and Mark Kozurek, aka Sun Kill Moon, a leading figure in the US indie rock scene who will soon be touring Japan, and a collaboration with James Graham, singer of the Scottish shoegaze/dream pop band Twilight Sad. and a collaboration with James Graham, singer of the Scottish shoegaze/dream pop band Twilight Sad. With a super band made up of the best of the best, this is not only a "minor victory," but a major triumph. We look forward to their future activities.
