Vasily Petrenko, who is the Principal Conductor of both the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO) and the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, has been active as a conductor around the world, and his partnership with the RLPO and the European Opera Center has resulted in a highly successful production of "Susanna's Secret" (AVIE/AV2193). Following the successful production of "Susanna's Secret" (AVIE/AV2193), the second Wolf-Ferrari project, the comic opera "The Four Countrymen" is now available from Rubicon! The opera "The Four Countrymen" is the story of four Venetian "rustigos" (a Venetian dialect word meaning "ruffians" or "mean people") and their surroundings, and was greatly influenced by Mascagni's opera "The Mask" and the Venetian playwright Goldoni's "The Countrymen". It is a comic opera in three acts, composed by Wolff-Ferrari and premiered in Munich in 1906. It is one of Wolf-Ferrari's undiscovered masterpieces, with its Italian and German roots and its operatic buffa-like style.Petrenko, the RLPO, and the European Opera Center selected talented singers from all over Europe for this production of "Four Countrymen," with an average age of under 30. Please pay attention to the live recording of the highly successful performance, which was led by conductor Petrenko and the high performance of these young talents who will lead the next generation!
