Baba Ali, a British-American duo mapping diverse sounds. A year and a half after their shocking debut, they have created their own incendiary follow-up, "Rough Like a Bomb," and released it. Mixed by Ross Orton (Working Men's Club, Arctic Monkeys, M.I.A.)In April 2023, British-American duo Baba Ali will release their second album, Laugh Like A Bomb, on Memphis Industries. After collaborating with Al Doyle (LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip) on their debut album, the duo began working on the album by themselves in his studio while Doyle was away on tour. Laugh Like A Bomb was recorded in just three weeks and mixed by Sheffield producer Ross Orton (Working Men's Club, Arctic Monkeys, MIA).Much of the process of making this album began with pushing ourselves to the limit to get to the essential ideas, discarding everything we felt was superfluous or unnecessary. We wrote, rewrote, deleted, re-recorded, and did it all over again," Baba explains. Returning in 2020 after the release of her debut album Memory Device and an 18-month Europe/US tour with artists such as Yard Act and Chk Chk Chk, Baba Ali has created an incendiary follow-up with one foot firmly planted on the dance floor and the other in a constant state of frenzy.
