2012 Rattle & the Berlin Philharmonic perform Bruckner's unfinished masterpiece, Symphony No. 9, with the addition of the fourth movement. Rattle said, "This reveals the essence of the work," and this masterpiece is being released in limited quantities on 180g analog LP. Bruckner's Symphony No. 9 was begun by Nicolas Samare and Giuseppe Mazzuca, later perfected by John Alan Phillips and Benjamin-Gunnar Kohls, and published in 1992 in the "Samare, Phillips, Kohls, Mazzuca Edition (SPCM This is a live recording by Rattle & Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012, which was the latest version as of 2012 of the "Sommerle, Phillips, Kohls, Matzka Edition (SPCM)" published in 1992. The fourth movement is said to have been roughly conceived up to the third theme of the recapitulation section, i.e., except for the coda, but about one-third of the more than 600 bars of this version was completely composed by Bruckner himself. Of the more than 600 measures of this version, about one-third was completely composed by Bruckner himself, to which he added sketches of the string and wind parts that had been left in pieces.Rattle said at the time, "The strange passages in this finale are entirely Bruckner's own handiwork. The powerful sound is convincing, and every detail has been thoroughly worked out to a great degree of perfection, proving once again the precision of Rattle's seamless interpretation and the high level of the orchestra's ability. The sound is convincing and thoroughly detailed. To commemorate the 200th anniversary of Bruckner's birth on September 4, 2024, this 180g analog LP will be released in limited quantities.
