The heavy metal/hard rock movement, which expanded as a global music movement in the early 1980s, was revitalized in Scandinavia, which was said to be a barren land for this type of music. Their debut album "Europe" released in 1983 was a hit not only in their home country of Sweden but also in Japan, and they became a new hard rock band. In 1986, they released their mega-hit album "The Final Countdown", which was their first worldwide release. The album reached No. 8 on the U.S. album chart and became a triple platinum album, and the album's title number "The Final Countdown" reached No. 1 in 25 countries. In conjunction with the album's release, Europe will embark on its first world tour, performing 101 shows from Japan to Europe to the U.S. to Europe.The Los Angeles show on April 22, 1987 was recorded and broadcast for a promotional TV/radio program. This album is a live album using the recordings from the broadcast, and includes guitar, drum & keyboard solos, and encores. The band's live performance was recorded in the midst of the worldwide success of the album, and Joey Tempest's powerful vocals were superb. New guitarist Key Marcelo's fluid and classical guitar playing also enlivens the band, and the European sound heard here is breathtaking!
