UNIVERS ZERO, the band that pioneered the "chamber rock" genre, has released a 2 CD+DVD live album with Japanese commentary in Japan, featuring previously unreleased live recordings and videos from '09. UNIVERS ZERO, under the initiative of Daniel Denis, a famous drummer/composer from Belgium, has delivered many masterpieces as a pioneer and founder of R.I.O./RecoMen and "Chamber Rock". The live CD+DVD set containing previously unreleased live sound and video footage from their June '09 performance at Le Triton, a live house located in the suburbs of Paris, will be released in Japan with commentary! The long-awaited release of this long-awaited live sound/video recording will finally see the light of day.The band was formed shortly after the recording of the 2010 album "Sacrilege," with Michel Berkman (oboe), Andy Kirk (g/perc/key), who had temporarily returned to the band at the time, and other members from the 70s/80s, as well as Kurt Bude (clarinet/saxophone), Pierre Chevalier (keyboards), Dimitri Evers (bass), Martin Rowels (violin), and others, The album contains live performances of the band at its peak, when it was at its best as a "band" since its revival in 1999, with members from the 70's and 80's such as Andy Kirk (g/perc/key), who returned to the band at the time, as well as Kurt Bude (clarinet/sax), Pierre Chevalier (keyboard), Dimitri Evers (bass) and Martin Lowell (violin). Starting with "Presage", a popular song that symbolizes the masterpiece "Used", the setlist of "Xenantaya "Civic Circus" (from "Hard Quest" in 1999), which has been a staple of the band's live shows since their revival, "Toujours Plus a l'Est", which was originally included only on the 12" EP "Crowling Wind" released in Japan only in 1983, "Toujours Plus a l'Est", which was later included on "Rivendell", and "Civic Circus", which was originally a live standard. The album ends with "Toujours Plus a l'Est," another live staple that was originally only included on the 12" EP "Crowling Wind," which was released exclusively in Japan in 1983; "Warrior" by Andy Kirk, which would later appear on "Rip Open"; and the killer "Dense," a song that is so much more intense than the studio work that it easily outshines the studio work. The band performs many of their best-known songs with an overwhelming sense of weight and dynamism that is the originator of chamber rock, and you can enjoy the essence of Univeral Zero both aurally and visually in this masterpiece live album! A must have for all avant-rock/records fans!
