Description:

Yohei, a Japanese singer-songwriter living in L.A., releases his second album "Echo You Know". Nels Cline (Wilco), Leonardo Marquez, and Jay Bellrose participate in this album! Yohei, a Japanese singer/songwriter living in LA, has released his long-awaited second album "Echo You Know". Recorded in his own yard in Los Angeles, Echo You Know is not bedroom pop, but rather a masterful piece of "yard pop. Echo You Know" is the second album by Yohei Shikano, a Tokyo-born, Los Angeles-based musician and producer, under his solo name "Yohei", following "in between my ears there is a cloud and a five dollar bill" in 2022. The previous album was an all-instrumental album. While the previous album was entirely instrumental, this album features six songs with English lyrics and two songs with Japanese lyrics, and Yohei's side as a singer-songwriter is highlighted. With the exception of a few guests, Yohei wrote the lyrics, sang, played all the instruments, recorded, and mixed the songs alone, which were recorded outdoors in the garden of Yohei's home in Los Angeles. The album also features Nels Cline (gg) of Wilco, Brazilian singer-songwriter-producer Leonardo Marques (vib, b b), Jay Bellrose (dsds), known for his work with Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Akiko Yano, and others, and Modest The album also features guest appearances by a variety of internationally renowned musicians, including Keith Carman (bb), a regular support member of Modest Mouse. The band's sound is a postcard of sound from L.A. I want Yohei to produce the Beach Boys. Makoto Kubota: "Yohei's music, which I often take care of when I visit L.A., is very much in tune with the atmosphere of L.A., including exotic, Americana, and psychedelic music, as he has lived in the U.S. for many years. The rhythm box and steel tones are very pleasant and nice!" Keigo Oyamada: "I feel comfortable floating on the grains of sound in a relaxed manner. It makes me want to shake a shaker with it. Sakura Fujiwara: "I wonder how it was recorded in what kind of room. I feel at ease with this texture. It was as if Yohei was right there while the album was playing." Yuma Abe (never young beach): "I have always been skeptical of the idea that if a musician listens to too much music, he or she will not be able to honestly create their own work. The quality of Yohei's music is a testament to the quality of his influences. It makes me want to tell someone that this is what it means to love music. Ryohei Matsunaga (Rhythm & Pencil)
