Description:

This is the third collection of piano works by Camillo Toni (1922-1993), one of the most important Italian composers of the 20th century. He studied composition with Cassella, piano with Michelangeli, was greatly influenced by Schoenberg, and participated in the Darmstadt Music Festival from 1951 to 1957, where he is known as a creator of experimental music. The album includes an arrangement of Berg's "Lyric Suite" for four hands, which gives a more detailed insight into his language, "Serenata," an early work strongly influenced by Schoenberg, "Three Fantastic Scherzos" from his later years, and other works. Recorded in 2015 with Aldo Orvieto and others at the piano. (C)RS
