Description:
Many people of all ages have found much inspiration in the works of Bach (1685-1750). This album features arrangements by two of the greatest composers of all time, Respighi and Elgar. The Italian composer Respighi, whose "Roman Trilogy" is known for its sumptuous music, boldly orchestrated several of his works, including the Violin Sonata, between 1929 and 1930. All the pieces have a massive and solemn sound with a solid bass. Although the melodies are Bachian, there is a strong sense of late Romanticism in these unique pieces. The "Prelude and Fugue" is a delightful example of the transformation into music from another world. Elgar's arrangement of the "Fantasy and Fugue" (1921) is also noteworthy. The fugue part is exactly like "Enigma" itself. The grandeur and richness of the sound will surely satisfy you. Naxos Japan
