Bach's Lute Suite performed on alto guitar. The instrument used here is an eight-string alto guitar with an extended lower register, created in 2009 by Finnish string instrument maker Keijo Krelin. Finnish guitarist Vesa Lassila makes the most of the instrument's characteristics to clearly depict Bach's counterpoint and the beauty of its construction. According to Lassila, the bass line can resonate more naturally than on a regular guitar, allowing the flow of the music to emerge more three-dimensionally. From each technically advanced and complex suite, he spun music full of transparency and poetry. Vesa Lassila has studied under renowned teachers such as Timo Korhonen, and has participated in master classes in various locations. He is currently a professor of guitar at the Jyrvieska Conservatory, where he is active in both performance and teaching. Naxos Japan
