Tribute Album by Saxophone Quartet on the 150th Anniversary of Ravel's Birth The third LINN RECORDS release by the Barcelona saxophone quartet KEVIYAR is a tribute album to Maurice Ravel, who will celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth in 2025. Ravel is known for his effective use of the saxophone in "Bolero" and "Pictures at an Exhibition," and for the important repertoire he left behind for this young instrument. Kévillard pays tribute to this achievement here by arranging his own version of "Pavane for a Dead Princess" and "Couperin's Tomb," two of his best-known works and the most beautiful melodies in the classical repertoire, and sings them with deep affection. The program also includes works by the French Baroque master Rameau and contemporary composers, giving us a bird's-eye view of Ravel's admiration for Rameau's ornamentation and the influence it has had on contemporary composers.
