The long-awaited new recording of the Requiem by Andruw Lloyd-Webber, one of the leading composers of modern musicals, is now available! The Requiem, written in memory of his late father, is a work by the composer of "Cats" and "Phantom of the Opera," and while incorporating rock and pop music, it has a haunting melody that rivals those of Mozart and Fauré, especially "Pied Jesus," which was used in a commercial and became a big hit. Not long after the completion of the piece, a recording of the complete work appeared, conducted by Maazel and featuring star singers Sarah Brightman and Placido Domingo, but perhaps its presence was too strong, and nearly 40 years have passed without a subsequent recording. This recording was made live when it was performed as a tribute to the composer on his 75th birthday in March 2023. In December 2023, he made his first appearance at the New National Theatre with "Die Fledermaus" to great acclaim.
