Mozart (1756-1791)
Description:
When Lars Forkert (1970.9.8-2022.9.5), a pianist who represented the middle generation of German musicians, passed away, many musicians sent out messages of condolences with painful emotions. Many performers sent out messages of mourning with painful emotions. Many of them unanimously praised his sincere, unadorned musicality and warm personality. As for the recordings that Faulkert left behind before his death, the Schubert: Piano Trios with the Tetzlaff siblings was released earlier to great acclaim. This Mozart album, to be released on September 8, 2023, his 53rd birthday, will also be irreplaceable for lovers of Forkt's music. When Faulkert took over as music director of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris in 2020, he began a series of ambitious programs, but his illness unexpectedly progressed, leaving the duo with only two recordings: the Mendelssohn piano concertos (previously released as ODE-1400) and the Mozart pieces on this disc. The only recordings by this duo are the Mendelssohn piano concerto collection (released as ODE-1400) and the two Mozart pieces recorded here.In the original recording, the producer of the recording, Christoph Franke, wrote a seven-page commentary in both English and German. According to his recollections, Forkert was always looking on the bright side of things and living with conflicting emotions while facing the reality of his illness. The performances on this disc are not the sorrowful performances of a man who foresaw his own death, but rather the natural expression of Fauckt's maturity, such as the youthful splendor of No. 9 and the grief of the middle movement, and the innocent play of sound in the middle movement of No. 24, which is interrupted by the dark and powerful drama of the No. 24. This is a recording that deserves to be heard not only as a legacy of Forkert's music, but also as one of the best performances of both pieces, with a sense of beauty and style appropriate for the modern age. The cadenza of No. 24 is Lars Forkt's own composition. Martin Helmchen also performed this cadenza on the PENTATONE disc. The domestic edition comes with a commentary by Satoshi Otsu in addition to the full translation of the original commentary. Naxos Japan
