The 125th anniversary of Gershwin's birth. In 1974, when the full scope of Gershwin's orchestral works was not yet widely known, VOX employed Slatkin and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra to release a set of three LPs of his orchestral works, including piano, in quadraphonic format. The set was released as a set of three LPs in quadraphonic format. The groove and precision of the performances made the appeal of Gershwin's symphonic works widely known. This CD contains a collection of Gershwin's works for piano and orchestra. Born in Chicago in 1942, Jeffrey Siegel won the third prize in the piano section of the Queen Elisabeth International Competition in 1968, and has performed with the "Big Five" in the United States, the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and other major orchestras and conductors around the world. In this recording, she uses her sharp technique to tackle Gershwin's score head-on with Slatkin, and reveals its true value.The soundstage with its breadth and depth, the balance between piano and orchestra, and the superb localization of the wind groups, combined with Mark Aubort's recording sense, make this a masterpiece of music selection, performance, and recording.
