Selim Palmgren, one of the most famous pianists and composers in Scandinavia since Grieg, has begun recording his complete piano works, which are uniquely beautiful. At the age of 14, he composed "Memories of Chopin" (track 1). He was so impressed by the performances of Ferruccio Busoni, who often visited Finland, that he entered the Helsinki Conservatory in 1895 to further his studies. He then studied in Berlin and took lessons in Weimar with his idol Busoni, gaining a foothold as a performer and composer, and eventually became active as a pianist and composer. Many of his piano pieces were written for his own performance, and his lyrical melodies are often based on Scandinavian folk songs. The first KONO album will feature a wide variety of works, including the world premiere recording of "Finnish Lyric Songs.
