Description:
Born in Russia in 1962, Sergei Shepkin began playing the piano at the age of five and studied with Grigory Sokolov and others at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. After graduating, he attracted international attention when he won third prize at the Queen Sonja International Music Competition, established in Oslo in 1988. In 1990, he moved to the United States. He studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and has been active as a pianist and educator. He is widely known for his interpretations of Bach's works, and this collection of partitas is his second recording for the STEINWAY label, following the 2014 release of "French Suite" (STNS-30046).
