Description:

The chamber ensemble includes Olga Pashchenko, a historical pianist of international renown, and Jean Rondeau, a gifted harpsichordist, both of whom hail from the Russian pianist Alexei Lyubimov's school, Anna Besson is a member of Nevermind, an ancient instrumental flutist with an outstanding aptitude for folk music. The theme of this disc, a dream collaboration between these two musicians at the forefront of the European classical music scene, is "Folk Songs" (......). The exquisite selection of music and outstanding performance will reveal how deeply this field, an important keyword in 19th century music, was related to flute and keyboard music. The "Folk Songs" here refers to the "Folk Songs" of Europe. Folk songs" here refer to traditional songs that have been passed down orally in folk societies throughout Europe. People in the 19th century, who were sensitive to the roots of local culture, were stimulated by the simple and unique charm of these songs, and composers actively pursued their possibilities in their own works. How to cook a well-known folk melody with one's own sensibility? The creativity that blossomed in the field of variation music, where one can simply demonstrate how to take a well-known folk song melody and cook it with one's own sensibilities, can only be truly appreciated by using the instruments of the time, which the composers themselves knew. This is an excellent project that explores the sources of 19th century music toward the era of Liszt and Brahms, including Beethoven and his contemporary Kuhlau, as well as the great works of Doppler, who was active during the development of the keyed flute. The more you listen, the more new discoveries you will find in this album. Naxos Japan
