Based in Venice, Italy, a city that has always been an important place for French cultural figures, the Palazzetto Bru Zane (Center for French Music of the Romantic Period) aims to rediscover the history of French music, and to present the music of the "long 19th century" (the period between the French Revolution and the outbreak of World War I). Since 2009, they have been producing CDs in collaboration with various labels, and this boxed set commemorates their 10th anniversary. Since 2012, they have been releasing CDs under the name EDICIONES SINGULARES with Semel Projektos Musicales, based in Madrid, but since 2018 they have changed the name of their label to BRU ZANE.This boxed set features sound sources from many other labels with which the company has collaborated, including ALHPA, RICERCAR, GLOSSA, APARTE, ERATO, TIMPANI, NAIVE, and many others. The recording is a collection of works by composers whose works are rarely heard elsewhere, and is a masterpiece even if one only looks at the list of pieces.
