An album commemorating the 150th anniversary of Berlioz's death! Berlioz's "Symphonie fantastique" and its sequel, "Lelio," are both maverick works based on the composer's own experiences in love. The "Symphonie fantastique," in which a specific melody (representing his love interest, Harriet Smithson) called "Idea fixe" appears in different forms throughout the piece, is, as the title suggests, loved for its fantastical style and often performed, and is considered Berlioz's masterpiece, while the "Lelio," which was given the same work number, was composed by the composer himself. Lelio" is an autobiographical work born from the breakup with pianist Marie Maque. It is a unique piece with a large orchestra, solo voice, chorus, and piano, and a narrator who gives a great deal of weight to the story, Although the two works are closely related, they are rarely performed. The narrator of this program is Jean-Philippe Lafont, a veteran French baritone who has sung a variety of works. He is not only a baritone singer who has sung a variety of works, but has also appeared as an actor in films such as "Babette's Dinner" and "Carmen" and is well known for his acting.For Jordaan, who specializes in narrative works, these two works are a true showcase of his skills. In "Symphonie fantastique", Jordaan's rich and bizarre expression is of course, but in the highly theatrical "Lelio", he freely manipulates a large orchestra to depict the imaginary world of the main character from multiple perspectives.
