Description:
Richard Itter (1928-2014), founder of the Lyrita Recorded Edition label, actively recorded British music and contributed to the discovery of unknown composers. This is the fifth in a series of CDs from his valuable collection of BBC broadcasts, which he has been air-checking since 1952 using the most advanced professional equipment available at the time. Casados is known as a master of French music, including works by Ravel, with whom he had a close friendship, but he is also highly acclaimed for his beautiful performances of Mozart and Beethoven with his restrained touch. The two performances appearing here for the first time are both live performances made a few years before they were officially recorded by Columbia. Although some hissing noise is noticeable in the weak passages of "Emperor," the sound is very clear thanks to Paul Bailey's careful remastering, and you can enjoy the beautiful sound that only Kasadosh can produce, as well as the correct yet crisp Beethoven sound of a British orchestra.
