Description:
This is a collection of songs by English poet and composer Ivor Gurney and his friends. The album title is taken from his poem. Gurney studied under Stanford and aspired to be a composer, but he also showed interest in writing poetry. He wrote a collection of poems, including "Severn and Somme," based on his experiences serving in World War I. He continued to compose while battling the aftereffects of the war, but eventually became mentally ill and died an untimely death at the age of 47. All of his works are colored by quiet compositions.
