This is a special release from the well-known Taiwanese reissue label "ONCE MORE MUSIC", and comes with All Days Records' well-known paper jacket and obi commentary! This is the only hidden psychedelic masterpiece by the Seattle band, which also included Danny O'Keefe. CALLIOPE was formed by Paul Goldsmith (lead guitar/vocals), who had played in a group called Emergency Exit, Clyde Heaton, John Simpson (drums) and SSW who broke through in the 70's with "Good Time Charlie Got The Blues". The band released their only album "Steamed" in 1968, and then disbanded.The sound is a combination of hard driving guitars, chorus harmonies made possible by the presence of several members who can sing, and a sense of consistency with keyboards, strings, and brass throughout the album. The result is a satisfying collection of covers of well-known songs such as "California Dreaming," "Hound Dog," "Like A Rolling Stone," and "Nadine," as well as O'Keefe's original numbers. This is a disc worthy of the name "hidden masterpiece," with a quality that can be recommended to both Danny O'Keefe fans and psychedelic music fans. Includes obi commentary, domestic distribution specs, imported commentary by Hirokazu Yakame.
