Social Distortion’s eighth studio album, *Born To Kill*, their first in 15 years, is set for release! This album, the first since frontman Ness recovered from his battle with cancer, is filled with an almost aggressive sense of positivity, making its core message clear right from the opening track. The title track—which also serves as a mission statement—weaves in homages to Lou Reed (“Rock ’n’ Roll Animal Gonna Come Your Way!”) and Iggy and the Stooges (“The agenda is yeah to Search and Destroy”), while a few tracks later, “Partners in Crime” pays tribute to David Bowie (“It’s a Rock ’n’ Roll Suicide”). The album was co-produced by Mike Ness and Dave Sardy, featuring guest appearances by Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Lucinda Williams. The artwork is a collaboration between Ness and Shepard Fairey. The 11-track album is filled with the raw, unadulterated rage, joy, and catharsis of rock ’n’ roll. The album is infused throughout with the band’s signature sound—a fusion of rebellious spirit and worldly wisdom—that has, for over 40 years, established founder Mike Ness as a poet and sage for those pushed to the margins of society. *“Wicked Game” is a cover of the 1989 song by Chris Isaak.
