The first time in 50 years that they have been re-released in their original form as independent albums! This is the important work that made Ray a genius. Ray Charles had many hits in the 50's with Atlantic, including "What I Say" and reached the top of the R&B and gospel world. In the 1960s, he left Atlantic and signed with ABC/Paramount. It also won a Grammy the following year and became the best-selling album by a black musician and in country.Volume 2, released only six months later, received the same critical acclaim as its predecessor and spawned many hit singles, including "You Are My Sunshine," which also reached number one. These two albums changed the course of popular music, and were proof that Ray Charles was a genius.
