Tom Waits' early live performance recordings! The image of Tom Waits in Japan is that of a drunken piano man. Influenced by the beat poet. Jazz. Those who dare to choose Tom Waits instead of Bob Dylan have a good reason. Tom's music became more and more experimental after he moved his record company to Island, but it is the Asylum era that many Japanese fans love. More specifically, it is the Tom who sang ballads before his throat was crushed in 1975 and he developed a lame voice. This CD is a compilation of Tom's broadcast performances from his debut in 1973 to his three appearances on KPFK FM's FOLK SCENE program in North Hollywood in 1975, before he changed his voice.In terms of albums, this is from after the release of their debut album, "Closing Time" (1973), to about after the release of their second album, "The Heart of Saturday Night" (1974). Disc 1 is a studio live performance from August 12, 1973, which progresses loosely, interspersed with interviews, but it is all taken away by the piano intro to "Ol' 55," which seems to ring in the silence of midnight. Disc 2 contains recordings from his appearances on the same show on July 23, 1974 and January 12, 1975; in 1974, he plays all piano, but in 1975, he plays new songs on guitar, including "The Heart Of Saturday Night" there. Also included are five songs from Tom's November 10, 1973 performance at the Troubadour, where he appeared before his debut and where he got his start. In a way, this is a sound source that concentrates the essential aspects of Tom Waits even more than his record works, and should definitely be listened to by anyone who likes Tom in his early days.
