The debut album (originally released in 1975) showcases the musical talents of veteran Tulsa, Oklahoma-based photographer John Southern, known for his photographs of Eric Clapton and others. John Southern is a veteran photographer based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who became the exclusive photographer for the Tulsa World (Oklahoma's leading daily newspaper) at the age of 19 (early 70's), and whose photograph of Eric Clapton in 1975 was circulated not only in the local newspaper the next day but also around the world. (see above). At the same time, Clapton's talent blossomed in music, and this album, "Equinox," is his first solo album as a "musician (singer/songwriter)" released in 1975. The vivid and striking cover photo, as well as the design and layout, were all done by the artist himself. The back of the jacket introduces a creative instrument named the "John Hooley. According to John Hooley, it is "the only instrument in the world" that cannot be categorized in any other genre, and is unique in that it can be used not only as an ordinary guitar, but also as a slide guitar and an autoharp.In addition to that instrumentation, he plays almost everything himself (lead and rhythm guitar, bass, organ, and John Hooley), with guest appearances by Bobby Anderson (banjo) and Davis McKeown (drums), depending on the song. The two bonus tracks are the latest recordings from 2011.
