The cello was chosen as the third instrument for the "Tenderness" series, which continued with "Piano Tenderness" (2023) and "Guitar Tenderness" (2024). The 16 pieces on this album are by artists from Italy, Ireland, England, Iceland, Portugal, the United States, Brazil, Argentina, and Japan, representing the traditional and the modern. The album features beautiful performances by Hajime Mizoguchi (10), David Darling (09,16), Seigen Tokuzawa (01), and Danny Norbury (02), all of whom are easily recognizable as cellists working outside of classical music, as well as the arrangement skills of up-and-coming artist Fumitake Ezaki (13), Also noteworthy are Kike Sinesi's latest recording (05) and Japanese cellist Mitsuko Arai's cover of Edu Lobo's masterpiece (14). Also included are classical music pieces such as Schubert's Lieder arranged for cello (11) and the secretly popular "Nocturne" (15) by Georgian composer Vasya Azarashvili. The accompaniment is not only piano but also guitar-friendly.The jacket features a photo of pink haze, a type of single blooming rose. The language of pink roses includes "elegance," "warm heart," "kindness," "grace," "blessing," and "healing," which would be a perfect match for the sound of the cello. Mastering was done by one of Japan's leading ambient artists, Hiji Hatakeyama.
